The 5 Best Foods for Optimal Health!

and Recipes…

I began my health journey a few years out of college. I knew I had to stop the fast food, pizza, sodas, and more of the ‘college staples’. I met with a nutritionist and a homeopath to begin my journey. Maintaining a healthy and balanced diet is crucial for our overall well-being. The foods we consume play a significant role in supporting our body’s functions, boosting our immune system, and preventing chronic diseases.

Incorporating a variety of nutrient-dense foods into your daily diet is key to achieving optimal health. Here are the five best foods to consider adding to your daily meals for a healthier lifestyle.

The good news, since I started this health journey, I have not had a cold or illness in four years!

Here is the list the nutritionist gave me when I got started and now include in my daily diet.

1. Leafy Greens:

Leafy greens such as spinach, kale, and Swiss chard are nutritional powerhouses packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. These greens are rich in vitamins A, C, and K, as well as essential minerals like iron and calcium. They also contain phytochemicals that have anti-inflammatory properties and may help reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease and certain cancers. Including a generous portion of leafy greens in your daily diet provides a solid foundation for overall health.

Spinach: Known for its mild flavor and versatility, spinach is rich in vitamins A, C, and K, as well as iron, folate, and magnesium.

Kale: A nutrient powerhouse, kale is high in vitamins A, C, and K. It also contains antioxidants like lutein and zeaxanthin, which are beneficial for eye health.

Swiss Chard: With vibrant, colorful stems, Swiss chard is a good source of vitamins A, C, and K, as well as magnesium and potassium.

Arugula: Known for its peppery flavor, arugula is low in calories and rich in vitamins A and K, as well as folate.
