Cut Down Your Own Christmas Tree

As a child, my parents always took my siblings and I to cut down our own Christmas tree. It was not a Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase-type moment, out in the wilderness and chopping down a huge monster of a tree!

We went to tree farms, but it was still an adventure and one I miss rather than going to the local garden shop and choosing a tree. Why not locate tree farms and feel the excitement and satisfaction of locating and chopping down your own tree? These tree farms grow these trees for that purpose only, then re-plant each year new trees. Great for the environment.

So, if you’re planning on cutting down your own Christmas tree, there are a few things you need to keep in mind. First, make sure that you have permission to cut down a tree on the property where you plan to do so, hence locating a ‘tree farm’. This is especially important if you’re cutting down a tree on public land. Second, make sure you have all the necessary equipment, such as a saw, a rope, and a way to transport the tree once it’s been cut down. Finally, be safe and follow all relevant laws and regulations. Once you have all of these things in place, you’re ready to cut down your own Christmas tree.
