A Highly Respected 25-Year Critical Care Physician Talks About Our Healthcare System

The Physician requested to stay anonymous for now so he can continue to care for sick patients and those with Coronavirus. Many hospitals and their corporate owners, do not like it when their MDs speak out publicly about healthcare issues.

Here is his letter:

What America needs is a single healthcare system, not a single-payer system.

There is so much that has evolved in the transition from medical care to healthcare that was initiated in the Clinton administration and we should learn from that history but in the 20 years, this has evolved “healthcare” has become a very lucrative business. Like any for-profit business, shareholder earnings are not the bottom line, it is the only line and it must be recognized that this is fundamentally conflicted with affordable and excellent medical care. The disorganized distribution of resources, inconsistent practices and inadequate delivery during the current crisis, all reveal and confirm that this is true.

How is it that a hospital in Northeast Pennsylvania that is owned by a profitable company can threaten the governor of the state with closing the hospital in six days if they are not given $40M at a time when closing beds would be unconscionable? If there were ever grounds for…
