Actress Dia Mirza and Musician Patti Smith joined United Nations Officials to Urge Action for Climate Change and Women’s Rights at the SDG Media Zone
For The First-Ever Digital United Nations General Assembly
To mark the 75th anniversary of the United Nations and five years since the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement for Climate Change, the virtual SDG Media Zone took place September 17–29 highlighting gender equality, climate change, health care, and medical interventions, misinformation about science and real solutions, and the protection of the world’s diminishing biodiversity.
The SDG Media Zone, organized by the UN Department of Global Communications, in collaboration with the PVBLIC Foundation, hosted 14 high-level panels and interviews including actress Dia Mirza and musician Patti Smith, as well as United Nations officials UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed, Executive Director of UN Women Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Executive Director of UN Environment Programme Inger Andersen, Deputy High Commissioner for Refugees Kelly Clements, Executive Secretary of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity Elizabeth Mrema and UN Under-Secretary-General, Global Communications Melissa Fleming, among others.
